The ideal learning break — right in front of Wavecrest on Dolphin Beach. Long, mellow waves with a forgiving takeoff, perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers. This is where our group lessons take place. The sandy bottom and consistent shape make it ideal for learning pop-ups and building confidence.
Our lesson spotA fast, long-walled section linking into the main J-Bay pointbreak. Great for intermediate surfers wanting to work on speed and longer wave riding. Accessible in smaller swells. Once you've got your basics down at Kitchen Windows, Magnatubes is the natural next step.
Speed & styleA powerful, hollow wave breaking over a rocky bottom between Magnatubes and Supertubes. Best for experienced surfers who are comfortable in heavier conditions. Our surf guides can take you here when conditions and ability align — it's not for the faint-hearted.

World-class waveJ-Bay works year-round but the best conditions depend on what you're after:
Peak swell season. WSL J-Bay Open runs in July. Powerful, consistent waves. Best for experienced surfers. Wetsuits essential (water ~14°C).
Warmer water (up to 22°C), lighter crowds, fun-sized waves perfect for learning. Ideal for beginners and families. Best season for lessons.
